The Psychological effects of PMS : How to deal with the ups and downs

Eighty five percent of women experience PMS on a monthly basis. Often the symptoms are physical and/or emotional, and PMS can take over your life. While it tends to typically have more of an influence over a teenage body, it also inhabits the body of a full grown woman. Here’s the good news though: there are ways in which you can not only survive the stress of PMS but also thrive throughout the process.

The quickest way to deal with the psychological symptoms of PMS is to reduce your bodies’ physical reaction through meditation or relaxation. By calming down tense muscles, you are initially giving your brain a rest from its everyday race against your busy schedule, which can have more of a stressful effect during this time. Most women find it extremely difficult to take time from a demanding lifestyle, but ten minutes of deep breathing exercises can make all the difference. When you feel your muscles start to tense up, take a few minutes to gather yourself together by practicing the simple deep breathing exercises for just ten minutes.
